Get the COVID-19 vaccine, play in events

Back in August 2020, we announced that our stores would re-open for in-person shopping. The core philosophy behind that decision can be boiled down to this:

We need to start doing actual good, and that means we need to be able to more-actively model what good behavior looks like in a reopening environment.

As many people who want to get vaccinated now have had the opportunity to do so, I believe that the good behavior to model is to open our North Shore and Mayfair Mall stores up for in-person events for those people who are vaccinated.  Pretty much a straightforward application of our longstanding philosophy to the changing conditions.  There will be a more-detailed announcement about what events we’ll be re-opening in the next few weeks, but this main point bears repeating:

Proof that you are fully vaccinated is required before you arrive* for any event.

 

A couple of key points about this.

  • *Allow up to one week for processing after you upload your vaccinated status. You will receive a confirmation email when your status is confirmed and you’re cleared to join us for events! We will not be checking vaccination records at the store because, well, that is just asking for a slow and stressful event registration process.  We’re known for being efficient and avoiding bottlenecks, so we’re going to avoid that.
  • Your vaccination status will be tied to your MVP account.  This will allow for a speedy event registration process without needing to check everyone’s vaccination record card every time.  You can submit your proof of vaccination today using this form.
  • If you don’t have your own MVP account, stop by the store and sign up first, then submit your proof of vaccination using the form. While we’ve long been a bit lax on requiring everyone to have their own MVP account, that changes now.  A personal, individual MVP account is now a hard requirement for participating in events—no-exceptions.
  • Some event tickets will be available on our online store, and you’ll need to have an online account for these tickets.  You can use the same form to submit proof of vaccination for your online account.

For those who want to participate in events but are not yet eligible for vaccination: I am sorry, truly.  When you are eligible to be vaccinated, please get vaccinated.  We’ll be overjoyed to welcome you back then.

For those who want to participate in events but haven’t yet chosen to get vaccinated: please get vaccinated.  We’ll be here for you when you get the shot (or the jab, as those crazy Brits say).
