Guild Ball: Rookie League

Welcome to the Rookie League!

Rule One.
Have fun! This is a game we all enjoy and the point of this league is to simply play more of it.

With that said, let’s dive in!

What is Rookie League?
Each team has one Rookie that has a number of different progression paths that they can choose to follow during the course of the League. The paths that the player progresses through must be chosen at the start of the League; if a coach wants to change their player’s progression path, they must start right back at the beginning with a Rookie-level player!

(A Rookie player is a unique model and card set that is acquired separately from the rest of the Guild.)

League Overview
All players must choose a Guild to play at the beginning of the league and continue to play each game with a roster built from legal players of that Guild. Roster building rules can be found below.

All players are required to organize their matches with each other. Each player is must complete two matches within a two week period. At the end of each match you can level up your either the front or back of your rookie card by one level. Full rules for rookies can be found on the Rookie League Rules & Resources page.

Matches can be played any time, and do NOT need to take place during the listed Rookie League event times.

Please limit yourself to two matches every two weeks, this will ensure a level playing field for all since everyone’s rookie will be roughly at the same power level.

All matches must be completed by September 5th.

 

League Scoring
Wins: 3 Points
Losses: 0 Points
Draws: 1 Point

 

Match Guidelines

  1. Matches are untimed.
  2. The use of a game plan deck and terrain are required. You can find a printable set of the game plan deck and terrain as well as the terrain rules in the links in the Rookie League Rules & Resources.
  3. Each player can bring a roster of up to 10 models that may play for their Guild. This roster must consist of 1 Rookie, 1-2 (Captain) models, 1-2 (Mascot) models, and 4-7 squaddie models that play for the selected Guild. *Since Blacksmith’s team construction is different simply bring 9 models and a rookie.
  4. After dice are rolled and kicking and receiving players are determined both  players will select their Captain and Mascot, or Captain and Apprentice Models simultaneously. Then the players alternate choosing models from their roster starting with the receiving player until each player has completed a legal six player team. Rookies must be played in every game!

Rookie League Prizes

At the end of the league, we’ll hand out prizes, including promo and spot-glossed player cards, Chibi mascot cards, exclusive ball-markers, Lucky models and cards for all participants, and more! Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:

Rookie of the Year: Has the highest “League Points” score at the end of the league.

I make this look easy: The rookie who has scored the most goals.

Pain Bringer: The rookie with the most Takeouts.

Ball Hog: The team with the most tackles.

You wish you looked this good: Awarded to the best painted Rookie (Judged during the final week of the Cup).

(Models are only eligible if you have painted them yourself.)

Guild Ball: Falconer’s Guild Launch Party @ Greenfield

Take to the skies at the Falconer’s Guild Launch Party!

Registration: 11:00am
Event Start: 11:30am

Playing under the careful watch of the Hunter’s Guild, the Falconers bring a “tower” of new tricks and intrigue to the pitch.

Fun fact: A group of Falcons has many collective nouns, including “bazaar,” “eyrie,” “ringing,” and “tower.”

Number of Rounds: 3
Round Length: 2 Hours

Prizes for participation and sportsmanship include promo character cards, Falconry Bell ball-markers and LE alt-sculpt Egret and Hearne.

Team Construction Rules
All Captains should bring a team of 6 models, including 1 [Captain] and 1 [Mascot] model. In addition, all coaches may bring 2 additional [Non-Captain] [Non-Mascot] models to form their bench.

Before each game, Coaches should decide which 6 models will form their team for that game. Coaches who bring Blacksmiths should instead bring a team of 3 [Masters] and 3 [Apprentices]. Blacksmith Coaches may also bring 2 additional models, which may be any combination of [Masters] and [Apprentices].

Take to the Skies (Special Rules)
Each game that takes place uses the following special rules:

Flying High: The Falconers regard the skies as theirs alone, but for this event, everyone can experience the thrill of flight! All models in this event gain Flying. In addition, models may not make Parting Blows.

Birdbrained: At the end of each model’s activation, if the ball is a free-ball, before moving on to the next activation, perform a standard scatter with the “1” pointed to the center of the pitch.

Seeker: Models that declare a Charge against a model in possession of the ball-marker gain [+0/+2″] MOV.

Guild Ball: “Captain, My Captain” Season 4 Launch Party @ Greenfield

Where do your loyalties lie…

Let’s find out in our Season 4 Launch Party, featuring a “Captain, My Captain” tournament!

In this casual tournament format, guild loyalties will be mixed around as you are assigned a random new captain at the start of each round.

Select a Guild, and bring a Mascot and four other non-Captain models (available to your guild) to the event.

As each new round begins, our Pundit will announce the Captains that each player will field for the duration of the round.

Demo Day: Tiny Towns @ Greenfield

Learn a new game at this free learn-to-play event!

Our event runner, Will, will be running demos of Tiny Towns from 11AM to 4PM, so stop in anytime and give the game a try.

About Tiny Towns
You are the mayor of a tiny town in the forest in which the smaller creatures of the woods have created a civilization hidden away from predators. This new land is small and the resources are scarce, so you take what you can get and never say no to building materials. Cleverly plan and construct a thriving town, and don’t let it fill up with wasted resources! Whoever builds the most prosperous tiny town wins!

In Tiny Towns, your town is represented by a 4×4 grid on which you will place resource cubes in specific layouts to construct buildings. Each building scores victory points (VPs) in a unique way. When no player can place any more resources or construct any buildings, the game ends, and any squares without a building are worth -1 VP. The player with the most VP wins!
