Welcome to the Ninth World, and to Numenera.
Join Game Master Anthony for a mini campaign on Thursdays through all of February!
New players are always welcome! We’ll be starting with brand new characters and covering the basics of the game before we begin.
About the Game
Numenera takes place on Earth, well sort of. One billion years have passed and nine eras have come and gone—great cities, alien races, machine dynasties—all have risen to power, made sweeping changes to the planet’s people, its structure and its atmosphere. And all have fallen, leaving the planet a shell for the next to fill in.
It would be error to refer to you as a true human, and yet human is how you think of yourself. A resourceful wanderer in a landscape beyond your comprehension, full of seemingly “magical” devices and technology left behind by past civilizations.
Select who you will be in this world: Are you Glaive, armed to the teeth, a master of weapons? A Nano, someone whose mind and control of themselves can even affect their surroundings? The Wright, a builder, designer, craftsman? An Arkus? Leader of people, architect of councils and towns. A Delve, destined to explore ruins that may have the chance to slay others, but never yourself? Or are you a Jack? Pulling and teasing from the other styles, touching each of their disciplines, but never mastering any yourself.
Read the first moments of the campaign here. We hope you’ll be able to join us!
Geeks Who Drink brings the nation’s best live hosted pub quiz to Oak & Shield Gaming Pub! Join us for 8 rounds of audio, visual and live hosted trivia.
Our weekly quiz is free to play and we’ll be giving away prizes for answering bonus questions and gift cards for our top teams at the end of the night. Geeks Who Drink rules limit the total number of players on your team to 6, so gather your smartest friends and come down.
Prizes courtesy of O’so Brewing Company – Tap House featuring delicious beer and gift cards to Oak and Shield!
Open three packs of Ravnica Allegiance, assemble your League deck, and play as many games as you want against opponents of your choice! You’ll have an opportunity to reinforce your deck every week, and you’ll get prizes just for completing games—win or lose.
How does it work?
When you enter the league, you’ll open three packs of the new set. From the contents of those boosters and basic lands provided by the store, you’ll then build a 30-card (minimum) deck.
From there, play single-game matches. Each player gets one free mulligan.
Play anyone during the course of the league and as many games as you like—there is no limit on total games. Just try not to play the same person twice in a row. League games may be played any time, but must be played at the Board Game Barrister location where you joined the league.
Track your games: We will have League Record sheets available, to be filled out by you and signed by a Barrister after every game played.
This league does not exclude you from playing in Friday Night Magic or other events. If you want to buy into the league and play some games between or after your matches, you’re more than welcome.
This league will continue through Friday, March 1.
Late entrants welcome!
Players in this league need not be present every league Friday in order to participate. If you miss the first week, you can enter in a later week. By the same token, if you miss any week after the first, you may resume your league play where you left off.
Need Reinforcements?
You may purchase one pack per week to add to your card pool and deck. Each new week begins on League Friday.
OR
Lose three games, and you can purchase another pack to add to your deck.
Prizes
- Upon entering the league, you’ll receive three packs of Ravnica Allegiance and a *League Deck Box.

Welcome to Barristerberg Adventurers Academy!
This mythical and magical place is where young adventurers begin their journeys and build lifelong knowledge of how to be a great Dungeons & Dragons player.
Dungeons & Dragons isn’t just about tracking statistics and defeating imaginary dragons. The real fun of the game is in telling a communal story, cheering when your teamwork pays off, and laughing when everything goes wonky.
Class Event
This D&D “class” will prepare young players to join in on any of our D&D for Kids adventures in the future.
Stick around for a same-day adventure at 4:00PM, February 17!
Tier 1 Event
This “Tier 1” event will focus solely on the fundamentals of Dungeons & Dragons gameplay. Participants will learn the essentials of:
- Choosing an adventuring class and race (elf, dwarf, gnome, human, etc) for their character;
- Listening to descriptions of the story world and making choices for their characters;
- Interacting with the Dungeon Master’s story world and the characters it contains;
- Basic rules of adventuring and fighting (Example: Roll a die and add your attack value to see if you hit this goblin);
- Acting in turn so that the whole group participates.
A “trimmed” portion of the Dungeons & Dragons rules will be used during this gameplay session. To continue learning the complete D&D ruleset, also join us for our Tier 2 and Tier 3 events.
About your Dungeon Master
Chris has been playing Dungeons & Dragons and other tabletop roleplaying games since 1981. For many years, he has run events in Board Game Barrister stores, at official conventions, and at home. Chris has published several pieces in third-party roleplaying books and has written numerous adventures and campaigns.
Your training is complete and it’s time to begin your life of action and adventure in Dungeons & Dragons!
Together, we’ll tell an amazing story about your character’s heroic choices and amazing quests. All game materials will be provided, but players wishing to bring their own dice or a miniature representing their hero may do so.
Important:
Players who have not yet graduated from Barristerberg Adventuring Academy will first want to attend our D&D for Kids Class event earlier that same day!
